Bicomponent Fiber Acoustic Felt is a flexible porous material made by combining melt-blown PP fibers with hollow spiral PET fibers. PP accounts for about 60%–65% of the material, while PET accounts for about 35%–40%.

The PP microfibers are about 2 μm in diameter. They create many fine internal pores that allow sound waves to travel repeatedly through the three-dimensional fiber network. Friction inside this structure gradually converts part of the sound energy into heat.

The hollow spiral PET fibers form the supporting framework. They help the felt maintain its loft, thickness stability, and compression recovery. This combination provides sound absorption, low weight, and structural stability in one material.

Thickness and Weight Options for Different Frequencies

 

The material can be selected according to the available installation space, target frequency range, and required NRC value.

A 5 mm, 200 g/m² grade provides an NRC of about 0.4–0.5 and is mainly used for high-frequency sound absorption. A 10 mm, 300 g/m² grade reaches about 0.6–0.75 and is suitable for medium- to high-frequency noise. An 18 mm, 300 g/m² option improves mid-frequency absorption.

For wider frequency control, a 30 mm, 400 g/m² grade reaches an NRC of about 0.85–0.90. A 50 mm, 500 g/m² option provides an NRC of at least 0.90 for spaces with higher acoustic requirements.

The material density is 0.01–0.06 g/cm³. Its weight is about one-third to one-half that of traditional felt, helping reduce the added load on walls, ceilings, equipment housings, and internal lining structures.

Flexible Processing and Acoustic Applications

 

The felt is soft and easy to process by die cutting, hot pressing, laser cutting, or spray forming. It can be supplied as flat sheets or shaped components according to the installation position.

The material produces no obvious dust during processing or installation. It is not easy to shed and does not cause an obvious itchy feeling on the skin.

Typical applications include home theaters, audio rooms, recording studios, piano rooms, meeting rooms, cinemas, auditoriums, classrooms, libraries, and commercial interiors. Bicomponent Fiber Acoustic Felt can also be installed in walls, ceilings, equipment linings, and different acoustic cavities.

Buyers can select the weight and thickness according to room size, noise frequency, installation depth, and target NRC. This helps avoid unnecessary material and installation costs caused by choosing excessive thickness.
