PET Continuous Filament Felt

PET Continuous Filament Felt

PET Continuous Filament Felt is produced with LMPET/PET core-sheath composite-spinning technology. Each continuous filament consists of a low-melting-point copolyester sheath and a conventional high-melting-point PET core.

Core-Sheath Continuous Filament Technology

PET Continuous Filament Felt is produced with LMPET/PET core-sheath composite-spinning technology. Each continuous filament consists of a low-melting-point copolyester sheath and a conventional high-melting-point PET core.

The filament length can reach the kilometer level, forming a continuous reinforcing network throughout the felt.

During hot pressing, the low-melting-point sheath softens and bonds the filament intersections. The high-melting-point PET core retains its continuous form and provides the main reinforcement.

This structure does not require an additional adhesive to create a three-dimensional material with stiffness, toughness, and impact strength. The product can be supplied as a lofty raw felt or further pressed into automotive structural panels and three-dimensional formed parts.

Adjustable Sheath-to-Core Structure

The sheath material can be LMPET or CoPET with a melting-point range of 110–180°C. Common options include 110°C, 130°C, 150°C, and 180°C.

The PET core has a melting point of 256–260°C. Available sheath-to-core weight ratios include 50:50, 30:70, 20:80, and 10:90. High-end automotive applications commonly use ratios between 10:90 and 30:70.

By changing the sheath ratio, filament fineness, raw-felt basis weight, and hot-pressing density, the material can be adjusted for flexible felt, sound-absorbing liners, or rigid structural parts.

A concentric core-sheath structure is available, while an eccentric structure can also be considered according to forming requirements.

Dimensions and Structural Performance

Raw-felt basis weight ranges from 150 to 2,000 g/m², and unpressed thickness ranges from 3 to 50 mm. Available width is 1.0–4.2 m, while automotive panel materials commonly use a width of 2.2–3.2 m. Roll length ranges from 50 to 200 m.

The density of the lofty material is 0.02–0.10 g/cm³. After hot pressing, density can reach 0.5–0.9 g/cm³. Porosity is 85%–98%.

For a 1,200 g/m² grade, the molded density is 0.60–0.70 g/cm³ and the formed thickness is 1.8–2.2 mm. Tensile strength is 28–38 MPa, flexural strength is 35–48 MPa, and Charpy impact strength is 35–45 kJ/m².

PET Continuous Filament Felt is suitable for engine undercovers, vehicle side shields, battery-pack covers, spare-wheel covers, seat backs, and door-panel frames.

Integrated Material and Molding Support

product-2560-1696

Jiangsu Haokai completed a PET continuous-fiber material line and steam-molding line in 2025.

The factory can connect continuous-fiber production, molding, precision die cutting, and finished-product inspection in one project workflow.

Basis weight, sheath-to-core ratio, and hot-pressing process can be adjusted according to component load, thickness, surface curvature, and installation position.

The company supports mold development, samples, trial verification, small-batch production, and volume delivery. Production photos or videos can be supplied.

All goods receive 100% inspection before packing, and third-party inspection is accepted. Packaging for wide rolls and molded components can be designed around shipping dimensions, edge protection, and stacking conditions.
