Randomly Laid Continuous Filament Network
PET Filament Nonwoven Felt is made from continuous core-sheath composite filaments. The material is formed through air drawing, mechanical filament laying, and needle punching.
It does not use conventional yarn weaving or a warp-and-weft structure. Instead, continuous filaments are randomly distributed in different directions to create a three-dimensional network.
This structure maintains porosity and airflow while providing relatively balanced strength in the machine and cross directions.
Compared with ordinary short-fiber felt, the continuous filaments run through the material. This reduces the number of short fiber ends around edges, cut lines, and installation holes and helps lower the risk of tearing from these positions.
The product can remain as soft, lofty felt or be hot pressed to adjust thickness, density, and surface hardness.

Needle-Punching Process and Directional Balance
The needle penetration depth is 8–15 mm, and the needle-punching frequency is 800–1,500 strokes per minute. Needle density ranges from 150 to 400 punches/cm².
The longitudinal-to-transverse strength ratio is about 1.0–1.2. Because performance is relatively similar in different directions, strict material orientation is usually unnecessary during cutting, laying, and molding.
This feature is useful for automotive trim and structural parts with complex shapes, many mounting holes, or changing load directions.
By adjusting needle density and hot-pressing conditions, the material can be used as a flexible NVH felt or as a preform for rigid thermoformed structural felt.
Roll Specifications and Environmental Resistance
Basis weight ranges from 150 to 2,000 g/m². Flexible NVH grades commonly use 200–600 g/m², while rigid structural grades use 800–1,800 g/m².
Thickness ranges from 3 to 50 mm, width from 1.0 to 4.2 m, and roll length from 50 to 200 m. Width tolerance is ±0.5%, basis-weight tolerance is ±5%, and oil content is no more than 0.3%.
PET Filament Nonwoven Felt does not easily become brittle at -40°C. It is therefore suitable for cold regions and for automotive underbody or wheel-housing parts that may experience impact.
Wet-strength retention can reach more than 95%, allowing the felt to be used in components that may come into contact with water.
Both the sheath and core use PET. Production scrap can be crushed, pelletized, and spun again, supporting single-material PET recycling.

Automotive Applications and Supply Control

Applications include automotive headliner substrates, trunk side panels, spare-wheel covers, door-panel frames, sun visors, parcel shelves, and wheel-housing liners.
Jiangsu Haokai can adjust basis weight, thickness, needle density, and later molding conditions according to whether the component will be used as a flexible filling layer or rigid structural layer.
The factory has PET continuous-fiber processing, steam molding, precision die cutting, mold processing, and inspection capabilities.
Samples and small-batch trials can be produced from customer drawings. The regular minimum order quantity is 1,000, and different models may be mixed in one order.
Repeat orders can have shorter lead times because the material and processing data have already been confirmed. Products receive 100% inspection before shipment, and third-party inspection of dimensions, appearance, and material specifications is accepted.
