Soft-Rigid Construction for Front-Compartment Noise
PET Molded Front Bulkhead Insulator combines a rigid supporting layer with a soft sound-absorbing layer. The two layers are molded into a three-dimensional acoustic component that follows the front-bulkhead sheet-metal surface.
The rigid layer contains a higher proportion of low-melting-point PET. After molding, it forms a stable profile and provides support, installation positioning, airborne-sound blocking, and control of low-frequency structure-borne sound.
The soft layer contains a lower proportion of low-melting-point PET. It retains a lofty three-dimensional porous structure that absorbs medium- and high-frequency noise from the engine, electric motor, and road.
Together, the layers address both airborne and structure-borne noise travelling from the front compartment toward the passenger cabin. The fiber structure also provides part of the required thermal buffering.

Layer Ratios and Basis-Weight Selection
In the rigid supporting layer, the low-melting-point PET content is 30%–50%, while conventional PET accounts for 50%–70%.
In the soft acoustic layer, the low-melting-point PET content is 15%–25%, while conventional PET accounts for 75%–85%.
The recommended basis weight of the rigid structural layer is 800–1,500 g/m². The soft acoustic layer uses 300–800 g/m².
Where greater local stiffness is required, a rigid reinforcement layer of 1,200–2,000 g/m² can be added.
Raw-felt thickness is 5–25 mm, while molded thickness is 2–8 mm.
The thickness and local compression of each layer can be adjusted around front-bulkhead curvature, wiring paths, steering-column clearances, air-conditioning pipes, and local heat sources.
This prevents the complete part from using the same density in areas with different acoustic and assembly requirements.
NRC, Thermal Performance, and Molding Data
The combined NRC is 0.60–0.90. The soft acoustic layer can reach an NRC of up to 0.90, while the rigid structural layer provides about 0.40–0.60.
Thermal conductivity ranges from 0.035 to 0.050 W/(m·K), and the random three-dimensional fiber structure has a porosity of 85%–95%.
The material is preheated at 180–220°C for 60–180 seconds. It is then transferred to a cold mold at 40–60°C and formed under 5–8 MPa of pressure.
Holding time is 30–180 seconds. The mold can create deep cavities, raised and recessed surfaces, locally compressed sections, and clearances for wiring or pipes.
Clips or metal inserts can also be positioned in the mold and integrated during forming.
PET Molded Front Bulkhead Insulator can be used for internal or external firewall components in fuel vehicles, engine-compartment thermal pads, electric-motor sound covers, and front-bulkhead NVH parts for new-energy vehicles.

Vehicle Project Coordination

Jiangsu Haokai coordinates automotive NVH projects through its R&D, production, quality, and project-management functions.
The team can follow target frequencies, sheet-metal data, assembly requirements, material proposals, mold development, sample production, trial validation, and volume-production preparation.
The company has PET continuous-fiber production, steam molding, precision cutting, and inspection-coordination capabilities. It can also coordinate third-party testing, dimensional optimization, and process adjustments.
Custom parts can be developed from technical drawings or physical prototypes. Sample development normally takes 10–15 days.
Photos or videos can be provided during volume production. Products receive 100% inspection before packing, and third-party inspection is accepted.
Dedicated personnel can continue to follow quality feedback, production issues, and material or dimensional updates during later vehicle-model changes.
