Acoustic Impedance Gradient in a Multilayer Structure
PET Structural Felt Liner is a soft-and-rigid automotive lining based on a gradual change in acoustic impedance.
Dense PET rigid felt acts as the supporting and sound-blocking layer. Lofty PET soft felt provides sound absorption, cushioning, and thermal insulation.
Noise first meets the high-density layer, which reduces sound transmission. Remaining sound energy then enters the porous soft layer and is dissipated within the fiber network.
PE or PE-PA bonding film, EVA or TPU sound-barrier film, and aluminum foil can be added according to the environment of a front bulkhead, firewall, main carpet, or motor cover.
Compared with soft felt alone, the structure provides greater support and sound insulation. Compared with a rigid board alone, it reduces the amount of reflected sound that continues to travel through the surrounding cavity.

Adjustable Functional Layers
A typical structure may contain formed PET rigid felt, PE or PE-PA film, EVA or TPU barrier film, formed PET soft felt, and an optional aluminum-foil layer.
Bonding-film basis weight can range from 10 to 200 g/m². A front-bulkhead product commonly uses 10–50 g/m² PE or PE-PA film.
EVA or TPU sound-barrier film can use a basis weight of 100–300 g/m².
The material arrangement can be adjusted locally. Aluminum foil can be placed near an engine, electric motor, or other heat source.
Additional rigid felt or barrier film can be added where greater sound insulation is required. A thicker soft layer can be kept on the interior side to absorb remaining sound energy.
Performance at Different Weights and Thicknesses
A structure with a total basis weight of 1,000 g/m² and a total thickness of 10–15 mm provides an Rw of about 20–23 dB and an NRC of about 0.50–0.60.
At 1,800 g/m² and 20–25 mm, the Rw can reach 25–28 dB, while the NRC is about 0.65–0.75.
A 3,200 g/m² structure with a total thickness of 30–40 mm can reach an Rw of 30–34 dB and an NRC of about 0.80–0.90.
Compared with a single material, the soft-and-rigid impedance-gradient structure can improve broadband noise reduction by 5–8 dB.
Economy-vehicle front-bulkhead liners may use 1,000–1,500 g/m². New-energy vehicles or models with higher sound-insulation requirements may use 2,200–2,800 g/m² while also considering the required 120°C temperature resistance.

Automotive Development and After-Sales Coordination

For electric-motor sound covers, a structure combining 1,000–1,800 g/m² rigid felt, soft felt, and aluminum foil can be used to target motor noise between 2 and 6 kHz.
Jiangsu Haokai can develop PET Structural Felt Liner according to required Rw, NRC, temperature resistance, installation dimensions, and surface structure.
Material production, layer lamination, steam molding, precision cutting, and final inspection can be connected in the same project.
Dedicated personnel can follow the material proposal, mold development, trial validation, small-batch production, and volume preparation. Production photos or videos can be supplied.
Products receive 100% inspection before packing, and third-party inspection is accepted. A warranty period of 1–3 years is available, with support for transportation damage and volume-production quality issues based on the actual inspection results.
